Founder Feature: Diana of Xatoms Takes the Global Stage at Davos

As an alumni of our IDEA Step‑Up Program, Xatoms reached an important milestone this January when founder Diana brought the company’s water‑innovation mission to Davos, one of the world’s leading platforms for dialogue on global industry, sustainability, and emerging technologies.

Representing Canadian Innovation at Davos

At 24, Diana joined conversations with senior leaders and executives from organizations including Ecolab, PepsiCo, Gap Inc., and Reckitt. Her participation highlighted the growing urgency of global water challenges and positioned Xatoms as an emerging contributor in this critical sector.

During meetings and discussions, Diana outlined:

  • The increasing global pressure on water access, quality, and safety
  • The scientific foundation behind Xatoms’ technology
  • The need for accelerated innovation in water treatment and sustainability
  • How Xatoms is building solutions that prioritize scientific validation and long‑term impact

Significance for Xatoms

Xatoms secured a $226,000 grant after being selected among the top 10 global startups in the World Economic Forum 2026 UpLink Water Resilience cohort, backed by HCLTech’s Aquapreneur Innovation Initiative. Xatoms’ presence at Davos also supports the company’s continued growth and visibility, contributing to:

  • Expanded awareness of its technology
  • New relationships with global CEOs and sustainability leaders
  • Increased interest in potential partnerships and applications
  • Momentum heading into 2026 for impact‑driven innovation
Xatoms is also advancing work here at home through a fully funded initiative supported by the Canada Water Agency, focused on deploying their water treatment technology in real‑world environments across Canada from 2025–2027. The company is currently seeking partners, municipalities, conservation groups, water organizations, and community-led initiatives to collaborate on this grant‑supported pilot program aimed at improving freshwater quality and long‑term sustainability. With funding secured, they’re offering a fully grant-supported pilot project at no cost to partners – focused on validation, impact, and long-term scalability. Looking Ahead

Diana’s participation at Davos highlights the strength of Mississauga’s innovation ecosystem and reflects the ambition of companies emerging from IDEA Mississauga programs. As an IDEA Step‑Up alumnus, Xatoms demonstrates how local startups can translate scientific innovation into global impact.

Mississauga’s entrepreneurial community continues to grow, supported by programs such as the IDEA Step‑Up Program, EmpowHER, and our advisory, mentorship, and partnership networks. These resources help founders build strong business foundations, access new opportunities, and scale technologies that contribute to both economic growth and global sustainability.

Xatoms’ progress shows what is possible when startups have access to the right support at the right time. IDEA Mississauga is proud to back innovators building solutions with international relevance, and we look forward to seeing more local companies take their place on the world stage. Congratulations Xatoms.
