Mississauga’s startup ecosystem took center stage yesterday as IDEA Mississauga hosted its highly anticipated Step-Up Program Pitch & Showcase, spotlighting some of the region’s most promising early-stage ventures. Held at the Mississauga Civic Centre, the event gathered investors, mentors, and local leaders for an afternoon of bold ideas, cutting-edge technologies, and community-driven innovation.
The Step-Up Program—designed to help early-stage startups accelerate growth through mentorship, workshops, and access to business resources—culminated in this live pitch session. Seven standout startups took the stage to showcase how their ventures are poised to disrupt industries ranging from education to clean tech.

The Scholarship Whiz took first place in the Innovation Phase, making waves with its mission to democratize access to education funding. The platform matches students with eligible scholarships, grants, and bursaries—streamlining the search process and removing barriers to higher education.
DIA Labs, the second-place winner in the Innovation Phase, develops patient-centered medical devices for respiratory care, prioritizing innovation, quality, and regulatory compliance.
Xatoms is commercializing the world’s most efficient visible light-activated photocatalysts to clean polluted water from even the toughest contaminants.
